Over the last couple of years we’ve waved off lots of people we love, as they head for far-flung destinations and exciting new lives.
I won’t sugar coat it, the saying goodbye part doesn’t get any easier. The last time, my (at the time) 5 year-old held her tears in just long enough to give her friends a last hug, then shakily whispered to me “I don’t want to lose any more friends mummy.” Me neither kiddo.
The flipside is how incredibly lucky I feel to call these brave adventurers my friends. Passionate people who have the guts to make huge changes, to pack up their bags and head in the direction of NEW and EXCITING.
So even as I choke back a few sobs and wish Amanda, Neil and their family safe travels today on their journey to the other side of the planet, I also want to thank them. Them and our other courageous companions on this bonkers journey we call life: Karen and Mark, Judith and Nick, Cindy and Mat, Emma and Carl, to name a few.
You all inspire me every day to take risks and march on with our own adventure, this little project we call the Lairies.
